Brett Roscoe is an associate professor of English at the King’s University in Edmonton, Alberta, where he teaches courses in medieval and general literature. His works have been published in Studies in Philology, Arthuriana, Religion & Literature, Christianity & Literature, and Mythlore. Though he is primarily trained as a medievalist — with a particular interest in Old English and Old Norse-Icelandic wisdom literature — he is also more generally interested in intersections of literature and theology. His research has touched on C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Frederick Buechner, writers who infuse their Christian faith into their literary works.
He first encountered Buechner when he found a copy of The Son of Laughter at a clearance table in a bookstore. This book impressed on Brett the holy presence of God in the midst of the everyday and the mundane.
