Read Rose’s article in December ‘25.
Rose Collins Kovacs is currently completing a Master of Arts degree, specializing in Spiritual Care, at the Vancouver School of Theology. With a background in Applied Linguistics and English Literature, she previously worked in non-profit ESL educational development in North Korea. Rose looks forward to serving as a chaplain in health care settings. She is also a mother of four, maker of pies, and avid tea enthusiast. Her poetry has been featured in Collected Online Arts Magazine, and more of her work can be found on Instagram: @rosecollinskovacs.
Rose first came across Frederick Buechner in a season of profound grief, postpartum depression and the unravelling of her faith: finding herself whispering lines of his writing to her newborn. She continues to experience the lens Buechner offers as transformative in her work and life, a gentle invitation to both observe God’s movements within suffering and joy and to allow the suturing together of all the complex pieces into something beautiful.
